When my daughter was in school, I felt like a more effective parent because of her teacher. Parents often count their blessings when they ‘get a good teacher’ or just try to make it through the year when they don’t. Throughout my career of training educators and consulting in schools, I have met many dedicated teachers and parents who question the old system and long for a more authentic education model.
We understand more about brain science and child development than ever before. In spite of the extensive research and experience, our current school system remains locked into an outdated education paradigm. It is our mission to bring a relevant education in a nurturing environment and we’ve started by opening a school right here in Marin.
Learning is a natural process when you integrate nature, arts, movement, friendship and academics.
Read our informational blog posts for a better understanding of our innovative model. We focus on what matters most — meeting our students where they are in their individual development and enthusiastically leading them toward their future.
Founder, Head of School
Caulbridge is a new school with an entrepreneurial spirit. Bringing together the latest in neuroscience and collective wisdom, Caulbridge School works to balance a child’s sensory-motor, social-emotional and academic skills. This balance is fundamental to a child’s successful school experience.
September 2015 – Began the 2015-16 school year with small, mixed-age classes in a shared-space facility and temporary location in Fairfax. This soft opening allowed for the implementation and evaluation of Caulbridge methods.
January, 2017 – Secured our new campus on the St. Vincent property in Marinwood. Upon moving to our new campus we made a strategic decision to transition out the small, mixed-age class of older students and to focus on growing our school from the lower grades. The short-term financial and social impact was weighed against the long-term growth and viability of the school.
September, 2017 – Began the 2017-18 school year with TK/Kindergarten and Grade One only. We will add a grade each year until we are a full primary school.
Spring, 2018 – Kindergarten yard - Phase 2 enhancements (see photos)
Summer, 2018 – Grades play yard enhancements
September, 2018 – Begin the 2018-19 school year with: TK / Kindergarten – 12 students (maximum) Grades One / Two – 10 students (maximum)
Facilities: Our current classrooms provide adequate space for two more years, at which time we will expand to the lower level of this building which has four additional classrooms.
Good schools talk about their test scores - Great schools talk about their teachers! We hire teachers and support staff who embody our values and contribute to our school culture.
